1. How to make Vietnamese Iced Tea

In the article, we will guide you on how to make 4 popular types of Vietnamese iced tea. Here are recipes for making them.

1.1. Vietnamese traditional Iced Tea recipe

This is the most common way to make Vietnamese iced tea on the street. Although the recipe is simple, you can be a master of this drink for the first time with our tips.

Ingredients:

  • Water: 250ml
  • Green tea: 6 – 7 grams

Directions:

  • Step 1: Boil water to about 90 degree Celcius
  • Step 2: Pour green tea and boiled water in a teapot, then brew tea within 4 minutes.
  • Step 3: Repeat step 2 one more time to get the second tea from the tea leaves.
  • Step 4: Pour hot tea in a thermos to keep its heat.
  • Step 5: The last step is more of a tip then a step so tell only who you trust okay? Just kidding! Put a few ice cubes into the thermos afterward. You will have tea with a beautiful golden green color for a whole day of selling.

Remember:

You should use filtered water instead of tap water because tap water contains heavy iron materials which will completely ruin the taste and color of the tea.

1.2. Vietnamese Pandan Iced Tea

While iced green tea is popular in Northern Vietnam, there is little difference in enjoying iced tea in Southern Vietnam. Instead of using green tea, people use pandan tea for a few reasons. The first is to lower the caffeine level and give the drink a different flowery aroma. The second is to cut down the cost of serving unpaid iced tea. Because people often serve iced tea as a free drink to go with a meal in restaurants.

About making Iced Pandan tea, you can use the same method as the traditional iced tea recipe. It is better to add more water to dilute the tea taste for people who want to enjoy the pandan tea aroma.

2. Secrets to have a good cup of Vietnamese iced tea

If you feel a bit hard to remember some tips that we have already given above, we will summarize them in this section and give you more details. Let’s find out what they are.

  • Choose the right water: Choosing water is really important to bring out the best flavor of the tea. Thus, you should use filtered water. Tap water tends to have too much iron and sediments that will affect the wonderful chemical compounds inside the tea. It will create an unpleasant aroma and taste.
