Kenya tea is the biggest tea exporter to Pakistan, with black tea accounting for over 83 percent of the country’s import market share. Vietnamese tea contributes to around 4% of Pakistan’s overall import volume.
Why does Pakistan import so much tea?
With a population of over 200 million people, and a long-standing traditional tea-drinking culture, Pakistan becomes the biggest international tea importers and the leading tea consumer in the world, with tea intake per capita, is 1 kilogram per year.
The demand for tea in Pakistan is high and growing, owing to the country’s long history of tea consumption. Despite encouraging tea farming in many regions of the country, Pakistan seems unable to meet domestic tea demand. As a result, this country has grown into one of South Asia’s largest and most potential tea markets. Vietnamese tea is becoming one of the best options in this country.
Middle-class customers in Pakistan’s major cities choose tea bags such as black tea, green tea, herbal tea, and fruit tea, but people in rural regions prefer traditional loose tea, which is widely used and accounts for the majority of the country’s overall tea consumption.

The United States is a fastidious market with high food quality and safety standards. However, the US partners believe that Vietnamese tea offers a number of advantages that will satisfy American consumers.
Tea is consumed by up to 158 million Americans per day. Tea products are estimated to cost more than 80 billion dollars in the US each year. Therefore, the United States is seen as a potential market for Vietnam’s high-end specialty tea products.

The UK’s tea imports in the first two months of 2022 totaled 64.1 million USD, up 42% from the same time in 2021. Vietnam’s tea goods will be able to grow their market share in this market thanks to the UK-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (UKVFTA). In comparison to tea products from other countries that do not have a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the UK, such as China, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia, Vietnam’s tea products have a competitive edge in this market.

Tea is a typical British beverage, with over 100 million cups consumed every day in the UK. About 90% of the tea drunk in the United Kingdom is black tea, of which more than half is produced in East African countries, mainly Kenya. Almost all British people drink their black tea with milk, that is, about 98%. Sugar is sometimes added as well. 96% of all tea is consumed from a tea bag. Besides black tea, green tea (sometimes combined with fruits or herbs) and earl grey are flavors regularly available in the United Kingdom.
