Corn Milk

Corn is more commonly known as a food item than as a beverage-industry ingredient. With just corn and a few other simple ingredients, it is easy to make corn milk, a drink rich in fiber and vitamins. Corn milk is considered a childhood drink among many Asian children, and FGC has turned it into a convenient ready-to-drink beverage.

Product information

1. What is corn milk?

Although called corn milk, this drink does not belong to the dairy product category. Corn milk is a creamy and refreshing plant-based beverage, which is popular in some parts of Asia, including China and Vietnam. In Vietnam, it is a common street-vendor and home-made drink, widely consumed by people of all ages. Corn milk has a distinctive light yellow color, which looks nice in photos. Prepared in RTD format, FGC corn milk mainly contains sweet young corn kernels, non-dairy creamer, water, and sweeteners. Therefore, it contains fiber and vitamins from the corn itself. Besides, the convenient packages allow consumers to enjoy it at any time without preparation.

2. How does corn milk taste?

Generally, corn milk offers a refreshing drinking experience with a smooth, creamy texture. Made mainly from corn kernels, corn milk has a mild, fresh, slightly vegetal corn taste, similar to the flavor of corn on the cob, but softened and diluted, without the starchy heaviness. The addition of non-dairy creamer enriches the creaminess of corn milk, closer to light dairy milk or oat milk. Moreover, corn milk leaves a clean, mild aftertaste without bitterness, making it easy to drink for a wide range of demographics.

3. Why does corn milk work in the market?

Riding the plant-based wave

Plant-based beverages are getting popular worldwide, especially in the US and EU markets. The plant-based trend is driven by rising lactose intolerance and dairy allergies, and a growing flexitarian and vegan population. Examples such as oat milk and almond milk are recording significant global sales. Therefore, developing and positioning corn milk in this direction is very promising.

Low ingredient cost, high perceived value

Corn is an economical and abundant ingredient in Vietnam. With FGC”s cooperation with numerous suppliers across Vietnam, businesses can get the most reasonable price with well-controlled quality. Therefore, they can optimize ingredient costs and potentially increase profit.

Cultural authenticity

Corn milk has a long-standing tradition in many Asian countries, and a genuine street-food heritage. Cultural value can be a strong point when reaching potential customers, such as the Asian community in foreign countries or buyers looking for authentic Asian beverage positioning. Unlike other beverages, corn milk has not been commercialized globally, so there are still many opportunities for businesses to enter the market.
