The Story of Matcha and Where it began

Matcha is not only delicious ,it’s also filled with health benefits. Today we’re doing a little introduce matcha and give tips on preparation .

What Is Matcha?




Matcha is a high- grade green tea ground into powdered  form. The green tea powder is whisked into hot water , instead of steeped, to form a frothy drink.The meditative act of preparing , presenting and sipping matcha is the backbone of the Japanese tea ceremony . While matcha’s origins are ceremonial, the green tea powder is widely popular around the world in berverages like tea lattes or boba tea and as a cooking ingredient in everything from ice cream to salad dressing.



Matcha is a form of green tea that’s been enjoyed in China and Japan for hundred of years. The leaves are made into a powder that’s far stronger than regular tea .While matcha is popularly  known to come from Japan today, the verdant beverage’s originactually lie long before it was adopted on the island nation in China.After growing in popularity amongst the monks from  China, they began to develop detailed rituals for the preparation and consumption of the beverage. It wasn’t until the 12th century that matcha would make its first appearance in Japan. Eisai Myoan who a Japanese Tendai Buddhist monk had a journey to China and he found to matcha. Upon  his return to Japan, he spent his life writing and teaching others about broth.



About 2 weeks before harvest fammers build structures around the plants  them leaving them almost in the dark. It’s thought that this make the leaves softer, sweeter, and brighter.After harvest, the tea leaves are quickly steamed, then dried and put into heated ovens for 20 mintutes or so. Workers then remove stems, twigs, and others unneeded parts and grind the leaves into powder.

Catechins, an antioxidant in matcha, may help with this. They seem to be especially helpful if your upper number is 130 or higher which can raise your chances or heart disease , heart attack and stroke among others issues.

 A cup of matcha tea a day might help keep your teeth in good shape. This could be because something in the leaves helps keep a healthy level of acid in your mouth.Matcha can help keep you awake and focused when you need to be.
